Urban Spirit Vodka Is Now Live
Urban Spirit Vodka, the UK's newest handcrafted vodka brand, is officially live at www.urbanspiritvodka.co.uk. From our innovative approach to distilling to our vibrant brand story rooted in craftsmanship, we're not just launching another spirit - we're redefining what modern vodka should be.
Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur, a bar owner, or a vodka enthusiast looking for something refreshingly real, Urban Spirit is the name you’ll want to remember.
What Is Urban Spirit Vodka?
Urban Spirit is an independent British vodka brand, distilled with precision and passion in small batches. We produce premium quality vodka from 100% cane sugar, resulting in a spirit that is exceptionally clean, naturally smooth, and perfect for both sipping and mixing.
Unlike mass-produced brands, every drop of Urban Spirit is crafted by hand, right here in the UK - from distillation and rectification to labelling and bottling.
How Urban Spirit Redefines Modern Vodka
The vodka market is filled with mass-market options that prioritise style over substance. Urban Spirit does things differently.
We focus on:
- Craft over volume – small batch, high-purity vodka
- Cane sugar fermentation – for a naturally smooth finish
- Unfiltered clarity – our vodka is so pure it doesn’t need polishing
- Sustainable British production – all made in-house, by hand
We believe real vodka should speak for itself - without gimmicks, glitter, or unnecessary additives.

It’s not a shortcut - it’s a commitment to quality over convention.

🌟 Urban Spirit Vodka: Where Modern Craft Meets Pure Spirit
How to store Urban Spirit Vodka
+
Whether you’ve just picked up a new bottle or are wondering how to keep an opened one at its best, you’re in the right place. Here's everything you need to know about storing your vodka the right way — especially when it comes to a premium spirit like Urban Spirit.
Vodka is a distilled spirit with a long shelf life, but that doesn't mean storage doesn't matter.
To preserve its quality and flavour, proper storage is essential. Let’s break it down.
STORING UNOPENED VODKA
An unopened bottle of vodka can last virtually forever, but to maintain peak quality:
Store in a cool, dark place – Room temperature is fine, though slightly cooler (like
in a cellar) is ideal.
- Avoid direct sunlight – UV exposure speeds up evaporation and can degrade the
spirit over time. - Keep it upright – Especially for Urban Spirit, which uses cork closures. Unlike wine,
vodka should not be stored on its side, as prolonged contact with the cork can affect the taste.
STORING OPENED VODKA
Once opened, vodka needs a little more care:
- Keep the bottle upright and continue storing it in a cool, dark place.
- Refrigeration is ideal – We recommend keeping Urban Spirit in the fridge. It stays
chilled and ready to serve while preserving its delicate flavour.
FREEZER OR FRIDGE?
Freezing vodka doesn’t damage it — and the thicker texture from freezing can be enjoyable.
However, freezing can mute certain flavour compounds, especially in high-quality vodkas
like Urban Spirit.
- For a full flavour experience, serve premium vodka chilled, not frozen, ideally
between 0–5°C. - Think of it like red wine — too cold, and you lose the nuance.
That said, there’s no wrong way to enjoy it. But if you want to taste vodka at its finest, the fridge is your best bet.
WHAT ABOUT FLAVOURED VODKA?
Flavoured vodkas, like our cherry-infused variety, have a shorter shelf life once opened:
- Best consumed within 6 months of opening.
- Homemade infusions should be enjoyed even sooner, as fresh ingredients reduce
longevity.
In summary: Store vodka upright, away from light, and preferably chilled (not frozen) —
especially when it’s a high quality spirit like Urban Spirit. Treat it well, and it’ll return the favour in every sip.

The Timeless Spirit: A Complete Guide to Vodka History and How It's Made
At Urban Spirit Vodka, we’re passionate about every drop that fills our handcrafted bottles. To truly appreciate vodka, it’s essential to understand its roots and the remarkable process that transforms humble ingredients into one of the world’s most iconic spirits. In this in-depth guide, we’ll walk you through the captivating history of vodka, explore how it’s made, and highlight what sets our own artisanal method apart.
What Is Vodka?
Vodka is a clear, neutral spirit traditionally distilled from fermented grains or potatoes, although modern craft distillers often explore alternative ingredients like grapes, apples, or cane sugar. Its name is derived from the Slavic word “voda,” meaning water - a nod to its clarity and purity.
Vodka typically contains 40% alcohol by volume (ABV), although variations exist, especially among flavored and low-alcohol varieties. Known for its versatility, vodka forms the backbone of many popular cocktails and is celebrated for its smoothness and subtle character.
A Brief History of Vodka
Origins: Eastern Europe’s Liquid Legacy
The exact birthplace of vodka is a matter of spirited debate between Russia and Poland. Historical records suggest that vodka production began as early as the 8th or 9th century in these regions, initially for medicinal purposes. By the 14th century, it had evolved into a recreational drink enjoyed by nobility and commoners alike.
In Poland, the term "wódka" first appeared in 1405 in court documents from the Palatinate of Sandomierz. Meanwhile, in Russia, vodka gained official recognition in the 15th century, when a state monopoly was declared over its production.
Expansion Across Europe and the World
During the 18th and 19th centuries, vodka’s popularity spread across Europe, eventually reaching the United States with waves of Eastern European immigrants. The 20th century saw the rise of global vodka brands like Smirnoff and Absolut, transforming vodka from a regional specialty to a global phenomenon.
The Craft Vodka Renaissance
In recent decades, the craft spirits movement has reignited interest in small batch, locally distilled vodkas. Distilleries like Urban Spirit Vodka emphasize quality, sustainability, and innovation - offering unique flavors and character that mass-produced brands often lack.
How Vodka Is Made: From Base to Bottle
1. Choosing the Base Ingredient
Vodka can be made from almost any fermentable sugar or starch. Common bases include:
- Grains (wheat, rye, corn, barley)
- Potatoes
- Fruits (grapes, apples)
- Cane Sugar (used by Urban Spirit Vodka)
Each base contributes subtly to the final flavor and mouthfeel. Our choice of cane sugar results in a cleaner, smoother finish with a light sweetness that sets us apart.
2. Fermentation
The base ingredient is combined with water and yeast to initiate fermentation. During this process, yeast converts the sugars into alcohol. This step typically takes several days, depending on the ingredients and conditions.
3. Distillation
The fermented mash is then heated in a still to separate alcohol from water and other components. Vodka is usually distilled multiple times to increase purity. However, Urban Spirit Vodka uses a modern rectification method that achieves even higher purity with fewer passes - preserving subtle flavour notes while enhancing smoothness.
5. Dilution and Bottling
Vodka is typically diluted with purified water to reach the desired ABV - usually around 40%. At Urban Spirit, we use high-grade purified water to ensure consistent taste and clarity. Each bottle is then hand-labeled and sealed in our small-batch facility.
Why Urban Spirit Vodka Is Different
1. Handcrafted Excellence
We do everything ourselves - from fermenting and rectifying our cane sugar wash to labeling and bottling each unit. Our process is 100% handcrafted in small batches, ensuring complete control over quality.
2. Modern Rectification Technology
Unlike traditional distillation, rectification allows us to achieve exceptionally high purity while preserving the essence of our base ingredients. This results in a vodka that is both clean and characterful.
3. Sustainability Matters
Our production methods are designed with sustainability in mind. Using cane sugar not only supports ethical agriculture but also reduces our environmental footprint.
4. Flavor Innovation
From our Signature Vodka to Cherry varieties, we believe vodka should be versatile and expressive. Urban Spirit is committed to crafting bold, modern spirits that honor tradition while embracing creativity.
Vodka in Modern Culture
Today, vodka is one of the most consumed spirits globally. It’s the base for classic cocktails like the Bloody Mary, Moscow Mule, and Cosmopolitan. Yet beyond mixology, vodka symbolizes refinement, clarity, and global connection.
At Urban Spirit, we’re proud to be part of this enduring story. Our mission is to redefine vodka for a new generation - crafted with care, full of character, and unmistakably modern.
How to serve Urban Spirit Vodka
+
In Poland, vodka is traditionally enjoyed with a meal or snack rather than on its own. Popular
accompaniments include herring, cured meats, and pickled vegetables. It's customary to sip
slowly and appreciate the drink—downing a glass too quickly is generally considered
disrespectful.
- Neat and Chilled: Vodka is often served neat, straight from the bottle, and typically chilled to mellow the alcohol and enhance its flavor.
- Shots: It’s common to drink vodka as a shot, sometimes followed by a chaser like juice, soda, or even a pickle.
- Social Traditions: Vodka plays a central role in Polish social life, frequently appearing at meals, family gatherings, and celebrations.
- Toasts: A popular toast when drinking vodka in Poland is "Na Zdrowie!"—meaning "To your health" similar to saying "Cheers!" in English.
